John Burns is President of ABS Friction, a company he joined in 2006 as the Vice President of Sales and Marketing. John was appointed President in March of 2007. At ABS, John is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the business – operations, business development, sales, marketing and finance.
A graduate of the University of Guelph with a B.A. in Management Economics, John has been a “Guelphite” since elementary school. John started his career in Export Sales with Canparts International in 1986. At that time, Canparts was the world leader in the development and marketing of non-asbestos aftermarket disc brake pads exporting to 80 countries on an annual basis. Moving to the Standard Products Company in Detroit, Michigan in 1991 as an Account Representative, John sold Original Equipment to GM that included body side moldings, engine mounts, greenhouse systems and body sealing systems.
Returning to Canada in 1994, John joined Decoma International, which is the exterior system group of Magna International. At Magna, John held positions as an Account Manager and as the Trim Group’s Manager of New Business Development.
In 2001, John accepted the position of General Manager – Secretary/Treasurer of Yeadon Fabric Structures Ltd. located in Guelph, Ontario. Yeadon is the world leader in the manufacture and erection of air supported structures.
John has a keen interest in golf and sailing.
